FDA moves to register products online

To facilitate and improve the ease of doing business at the ports, the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) is developing a platform to enable traders and importers register their products online to speed up the clearing process at the ports. The move is expected to do away with various delays and removes all bottlenecks associated with the clearing process at the ports, where the FDA currently spends up to three months to give its approval for clearing of products. Registering products online is expected to improve efficiency and eliminate unnecessary paperwork at the ports, maximize participation to improve marketing capabilities. This has become necessary as a number of traders and importers at the ports have consistently vented their frustrations on ports officials largely due to “unnecessary” delays in the clearing process. Fair Trade USA raises cocoa price minimums

Ghana and Ivory Coast hold first ever Stakeholder Engagement on Farmer Income in Accra Fair Trade USA will increase the floor price and fixed premium it requires companies to pay cocoa farmers under its certification system, the organization has said. The increase is designed to improve livelihoods in a sector that has long grappled with farmer poverty, child labor and deforestation The nonprofit will increase its minimum price for conventional cocoa to $2,400 per tonne from $2,000. For organic cocoa, the price will be $300 over this minimum or the market price, whichever is higher at the time. The premium, which is used to fund community projects, will increase to $240 per tonne from $200. The new pricing structure will take effect on Oct. 1, 2019. Wa Airport Begins Commercial Operations In October

Joseph Kofi Adda The Wa Regional Airport in the Upper West Region is expected to be opened for commercial flights by Africa World Airlines (AWA) on October 15, 2019. Aviation Minister, Joseph Kofi Adda, made the announcement in a statement yesterday. The statement indicated that the move was part of government’s commitment to promote seamless air travel in the country. It said commencement of the commercial flight operations is due to the successful testing and confirmation of the Pavement Condition Number (PCN) of the runway and other facilities that meet international standards of safety.
